Highlights
The UNESCO-listed landscape contains rock carvings from several periods, including the Bronze Age. Walk through the archaeological setting and discuss the images and their historical context with your guide. This is Tanbaly/Tamgaly, not the separate Tamgaly-Tas site on the Ili River.
Suggested itinerary
Travel from Almaty to the heritage area for the agreed guided route, allowing time to view the carvings without rushing. Include a planned meal or refreshment break before the return drive. Walking distance, areas visited and guide arrangements will be confirmed in advance.
Before you go
The visit involves outdoor walking and may include uneven ground with limited shade. Bring comfortable footwear, water and sun protection. Do not touch or climb carved surfaces; follow the site’s visitor rules. Your proposal confirms access, entry fees, guiding, transport and meal arrangements. Tell us if you prefer shorter walks.
